Before the property is sealed the perimeter will be
edged if necessary, cutting back weeds/grass for a more finished look.
The area will then be cleaned of all debris with power blowers.
Any large oil spots will be cleaned and primed to help prevent
breakthrough of the stains. Once the sealer is applied the entrances
will be marked off appropriately so that traffic will not enter the
area. Next a water soluble sealer. Weather damage, oxidation and the effects of
gas, oil and salt are greatly reduced with sealing. Without
sealing, oxidation dries out and deteriorates the asphalt binder.
The pavement loses its flexibility and small cracks develop.
Water and chemicals, etc. are then able to penetrate the surface
causing rapid pavement deterioration.
This process can be done by hand with brushes or sprayed on. One or
two coats can be applied. This is your choice and Fred can help you
decide what is best for your particular case.
As soon as the sealer is dry and able to be walked on, usually 2-3
hours depending on the temperature and weather conditions, the stripes
can be applied. Any hash outs, handicap spaces, numbers, etc.
will be counted and recorded prior to sealing so that accurate placement
will occur once the lot is sealed. Any changes to the configuration
of the striping should be discussed with Fred prior
to the estimate. |
